I can't believe Onosaka won Best radio personality at the 4th seiyuu awards !!

I'm almost starting to regain faith in mankind. Could it be that the results were not tampered with? After all, it's still hard for me to believe the jury would pick Onosaka in all his non-PC glory XD
And wow, it does match the fact that he received A LOT of Valentine's chocolate this year on Osha5 ! Congrats Masayan, this is a good year for you :)

I still have trouble taking this whole thing seriously, though. They don't even bother announcing the list of nominees anymore, for cripes sake. Can you imagine if the same thing happened with the Oscars or the Grammy Awards?

"We won't tell you who the nominees were, but the winner is XXXX !!"

Yeah. Sounds ridiculous.

I thought it was worth mentioning since large figures of male characters are pretty scarce (except for the whole Dragon Ball / Saint Seiya / One Piece shebang), especially for a series like Natsume Yuujinchou.

Here it is :

Manufactured by Alter, coming out in July. Price : 7140 yen (tax included).

It's a good idea that they used that illustration as basis, but Natsume's face could use some refining. It's probably just a prototype though, and I trust Alter to produce a high quality figure like they always do. They've never disappointed me before so why should it start now?

I scoured japanese blogs in search of the songs that were played this week-end, so here they are if you're interested (hopefully I didn't forget any) :

- Utsusemi no Koi <---- at long last !! This has got to be my favourite Heika song from Harutoki, and I believe he'd never done it before, even though it's an old one (someone correct me if I'm wrong)
- Taihai no Tawamure <----I wish Okki did an old song he's never done before. Ah come on now, make it happen !
- Hyouen no Bara no Fukou
- Retsu ~ Kiri Hiraku Mirai~
- Omoide wa Toki no Kesshou
- Shinri to wa Sourei Naru Niji Hakari (not sure about the romanization of this one)
- Aoi Tamashii no Tatsumaki <--- love !
- Kirameki no Tsuki (Owarinaki Unmei OP)
- Joudo to Ashura no Kinkan Shoku yo
- Oubai wa Homura no Chou ni
- Tsukiyo ni, Neiro no Omoibumi
- Morikago Mizuiro Seireika
Shiosai wa Shougai no Soumon ka ni...
- Homura no Chiheisen
- Hananusubito no Sora wa Sen Murasaki Man Kurenai
- Sora ni Todoku Sensei
- Ryouen no Michi o Yuke

There were many dramas covering all four Harutoki stories, one of which had the whole cast participating, which might just be a first in the history of Neoromance !  Also, talk corners are back :)

All that's left now it to wait about three months for the DVD to be released XD

Since I have a bit of time, I decided to reflect on what were my favourite anime shows of the year. Hopefully that will serve as advice for people looking for a good show to watch.
Of course, I can't say those were the absolute BEST shows of the year, because I haven't watched them all. These are the shows that started in 2009 and that I've watched :

Akikan !
Kobato (still running)
Kuuchuu Buranko
Miracle Train - Oedo-sen e Youkoso-
Nyan Koi !
Pandora Hearts
Phantom - Requiem for the Phantom -
Seiken no Blacksmith
Sengoku BASARA
Skip Beat !
Tatakau Shisho - Book of Bantorra - (still running)
Tayutama - Kiss on my Deity -
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0
Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou

And my top 3 would be (in no particular order) :

1. Phantom - Requiem for the Phantom - : girls with guns are fascinating to me XD I can understand why the slow pacing would bother some people, but personally I didn't mind it. It gets compared to Noir a lot, but I haven't seen that one, so take that comparison for what you will. Excellent music should also get a mention.
2. CANAAN : another "girls with guns" anime, LOL. The beginning is slightly confusing, but don't let that put you off. All the pieces of the puzzle slowly come together. It's also one of the rare instances where I took notice of the female cast. Yeah, that's how good it is XD Sawashiro Miyuki, Sakamoto Maaya & Tanaka Rie in particular did an epic job. I'm looking forward to a second season.
3. Kuuchuu Buranko : the late-coming masterpiece of the year. I wish there were more intelligent & creative shows like this one. It's so...unique. Both the design, the concept of mixing live-action (the seiyuu's faces, nonetheless!) & animation, and the "plot" development. I doubt anyone watching the first episode will have any reaction other than "WTF!!!??" (see my old post for more of that), but again, don't let that put you off, especially if you're into psychology and don't mind wacky characters and designs. Also qualifies for catchiest OP and ED themes of the year.

+ Sengoku BASARA gets a special mention for being the most GAR show to ever grace a TV screen. Bring on the second season !!

Series I will watch starting January 2010 :

For sure : Dhurarara

Maybe : Ookami Kakushi

Nothing else of much interest for me this season, which will give me the opportunity to catch up on older series I've been meaning to watch, starting with Cyborg 009 :)

Not only does Kuchuu Buranko have the craziest design and story (?) I've seen in a while (ever?), but they even incorporated the SEIYUU'S FACES into the characters' design. I mean, some sort of digital reworking of their face. No, I'm not crazy. It's Morikawa and Sakurai right there in episode 1.

Graphic evidence under the cutCollapse )

What the hell are they smoking at Toei Animation? Must be some really good shit. I want some of it too!

Leaving tomorrow, I'll be in Japan for 3 weeks.

I might write a review of Neoromance 15th Anniversary and a couple of other things, but other than that I don't know how much time I'm gonna be able to spend on LJ, so don't resent me if I neglect to comment on your respective journals ;)

See ya !

Sorry if I can't articulate my thoughts too well right now, but today's Neoromance Festa opened with a Heika x Okki duet. A new, unreleased song called "Vacation" to boot ! Actually, I'm not even sure it's a full-fledged song in the sense that it might never even have an audio release, but WOW !
Ok, "Gekkou no Kumoito Suhada no Kaizokusen" would have been dreamy but it seems they're totally finished with the Harutoki 1&2 stuff. Hopefully this one will be nice as well. A japanese blogger said Heika put his arm around Okki's shoulders during the song, eliciting great screaming from the audience LOLOL

Other Harutoki songs played during the show :
- Heika : Kokoro yo Saihate no Hyougen ni
- Seki Tomokazu : Manten no Hoshi wa Takarachizu
- Okki : Tenkyuu no Hate ni
- Heika x Seki : Mangetsu wa Yozora no Shinju <--- a nice one as well

EDIT : 2nd show (night show)
- Heika :  Itoshisa wa Hikari no Sunadokei
- Seki : Jounetsu Totamerai no Karasawagi
- Okki : Sajin no Shiro ni Tatsu <--- Kiyaaahh !! I SO wanted this song !!!
- Heika & Seki : same

EDIT 2 : a report in english from someone who attended the shows (warning : crack inside)

It's going to feel like a long time waiting for this DVD.....

Now I'm off to take a cold shower XD
